Kempsey Flood Camera Sherwood Bridge

The Macleay Valley contains a catchment area of 11.500 sq kilometres with a mountainous hinterland and subsequently fast moving flood water. Like all other coastal councils Kempsey is concerned about the short time frame provided to be prepared for a flood event.

Council has installed a Flood Camera at Sherwood Bridge which is integrated with a new river level monitoring station. The camera is able to pan, tilt and zoom so that an operator can remotely observe current conditions at the bridge site. The cameras regularly takes images of the bridge conditions and these images are automatically uploaded to Council’s website and displayed.

This allows residents to be upgraded on the progress and severity of the flood.
