Nambucca Shire was faced with the decision to Waterproof the Shire against major droughts or curtail the expansion of the area. This large project was carried out at a great expense for the Shire over and above normal commitments of a rural council.
The project consisted of the construction of a 5000ML earth filled off river storage dam to store water from an expanded bore field together with the upgrading of head-works, pipelines and pump station.
This project should ensure that Council will have sufficient capacity to drought proof the Shire and still enable the expansion of the Shire to continue. The dam is designed to enable to future rising of the wall to contain 14,000ML and will allow for the expansion of the Shire for many years to come.
